West Ham United have this evening provided the latest on the fitness of Lukasz Fabianski, on the back of the injury picked up by the shot-stopper last week.West Ham downedThe Hammers travelled to Bramall Lane on Friday, for their latest Premier League outing. The matchup came as David Moyes’ 3rd fixture since returning to take the reins of the capital giants, with the Scot having secured victories in his previous two. When all was said and done in Sheffield three days ago, however, Moyes’ honeymoon period came to an abrupt end.A dominant display on the part of Chris Wilder’s United eventually saw West Ham put to the sword by a goal to nil.Blades summer signing Oli McBurnie bagged the only goal of the clash shortly after the interval.Highlights: Sheffield United 1-0 West Ham‘Good news’The result, however, was far from West Ham’s sole concern stemming from their trip to Bramall Lane. With just a quarter of an hour on the clock, Irons’ goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski pulled up with a fitness problem.Worryingly, the Polish international could be seen to be suffering pain in his hip, the same area in which an injury recently kept Fabianski sidelined for over 3 months. The veteran was, as a result, forced off, to be replaced by David Martin. As such, all associated with West Ham had since faced an anxious wait for an update on the well-being of the club’s no.1And, as outlined above, this update has this evening been forthcoming.Speaking a short time ago, Hammers’ Head of Medical Richard Collinge confirmed that Fabianski has in fact not re-injured his hip, but is simply suffering from some of the after effects of recent surgery. As such, the former Arsenal man is expected to return to action ‘within a couple of weeks’:‘It is good news in the sense that Lukasz hasn’t aggravated or suffered any recurrence of the previous injury.’‘The scan has showed some slight inflammation and irritation of scar tissue, which is quite common after surgery, and obviously the source of the discomfort he felt on Friday.’‘We now just need to let the inflammation settle down and expect Lukasz to be available again within a couple of weeks.’A scan report has revealed that Lukasz Fabianski will be out of action for just a couple of weeks. We’re right behind you, @LukaszFabianski! 💪— West Ham United (@WestHam) January 13, 2020Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes keen to join Man United in January – TelegraphGedson Fernandes to have a medical at Tottenham on Monday ahead of loan move – BBC Why you need a VPN?Cut chords:Watch everything (Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Hulu) online using a VPN.Unlock geoblocking:A VPN gives you access to the best content from anywhere in the world.Privacy & security:A VPN keeps your information private, activity encrypted & data anonymous.Just $6.67 a month + 3 months free!

Spanish giants Real Madrid have this evening made the long-anticipated signing of Reinier Jesus from Flamengo official.Brazilian prodigyReinier, an 18-year-old attacking midfielder, is widely-regarded as one of the finest young talents to emerge from Brazil over the course of the last decade. The starlet possesses a whole rake of attacking gifts, combining perfect touch, technique, vision, ability to split opposing defences at will and crucially, a keen eye for goal.He has even been described as a cross between Zinedine Zidane and Kaka by some in Brazil. As such, after dazzling for both Flamengo and the Selecao at youth level over the last couple of campaigns, Reinier was subsequently introduced to Flamengo’s first-team ranks early last year. And, despite his tender years, the teen subsequently took to senior football like a duck to water. The 2019 campaign, which finished up last month, saw Reinier directly contribute to 8 goals across 15 appearances, as Flamengo secured a historic Brasileiro and Copa Libertadores double.Premier League linksAs such, it has come as little surprise to see Reinier heavily-linked with a move to Europe. The Daily Mail previously suggested that English heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool were set to battle it out for the midfielder’s signature:Manchester City and Liverpool set for battle to sign 17-year-old Flamengo midfielder Reinier https://t.co/4tsc0OTpml— MailOnline Sport (@MailSport) July 22, 2019Everton, meanwhile, were also named as keen suitors.Real switchThis was until the opening of the January transfer window, though, when a clear front-runner emerged in the race for Reinier. The outfit in question? Real Madrid.Reports stemming from Brazil over the early weeks of the month insisted that Los Blancos had all but wrapped up a deal for the teen.A €30 million fee was touted, with it having been suggested that Real and Flamengo were simply waiting for Reinier to turn 18 before making the transfer official. And, following the midfielder’s 18th birthday yesterday, such claims have been proven correct. In an announcement across the club’s social media platforms a short time ago, Real confirmed Reinier’s signing on a long-term contract. The South American has put pen-to-paper on a deal until 2026 at the Bernabeu, and is set to join up with Los Merengues’ Castilla side imminently.👉 #WelcomeReinier pic.twitter.com/EFbUngnpqi— Real Madrid C.F. 🇬🇧🇺🇸 (@realmadriden) January 20, 2020Reinier of course follows in the footsteps of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, fellow in-demand Brazilian youngsters who opted to take their talents to the Spanish capital over the last couple of seasons.Sporting assistant speaks out over Bruno Fernandes’ future amid Man United linksChelsea vs Arsenal betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictionsSheffield United vs Manchester City betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions Why you need a VPN?Cut chords:Watch everything (Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Hulu) online using a VPN.Unlock geoblocking:A VPN gives you access to the best content from anywhere in the world.Privacy & security:A VPN keeps your information private, activity encrypted & data anonymous.Just $6.67 a month + 3 months free!
